If an Explosive Detection Dog “ALERTS” its handler of a device, immediate steps to clear everyone to safety will be made. The Police Department Bomb Squad will be called in and any information gathered will be relayed from our Staff to the Bomb Squad.

How do bombers know where to place these devices and how much time it takes for Police, Fire, and EMS personnel and members of the media to arrive? It's called Chronic Bomb Threats. This page is dedicated to the memory of Detectives Lynch and Socha of the NYPD Bomb and Forgery Squad. Sadly, both Detectives lost their lives on July 4, 1940 when a Bomb Detonated as they tried to disarm it. The bomb was placed at the British Pavilion of the 1939 World's Fair located at Flushing Meadows Park, Queens, New York.
It is believed that the device was placed by Nazi spies who came ashore from a Nazi Submarine or U-Boat on Long Island, and targeted the World's Fair because Germany was not an invited country. The same group of spies (which were captured and either executed or deported) were known to have travelled from Long Island to Jamaica, Queens on the Long Island Railroad, and were also planning to blow up the Hell's Gate Bridge which connects Amtrak and Freight Trains from the Sunnyside Yards in Queens to the Hunts Point section of the Bronx.
The lives of Detectives Lynch and Socha will not be forgotten.
